Table Paradise!
For those of you that love hosting, or just simply want a fresh and new look for your tables and table wear, look no further! Since the beginning, we have always been serious when it comes to table essentials - tablecloths, napkins, beautiful jugs, candles, and decor. Your table is a focal point when hosting, and this is no different whether your table is simple just for you, or catching up with loved ones. It’s the centre of getting together, of sharing a meal, or setting aside time to catch up with your loved ones, or providing some needed solace from your day.
Making it beautiful (and personal) is as much for self-care and expression as it is for presentation. Whether you prefer a coastal aesthetic, neutrals, florals, or just all the colours possible, we have something for every taste, and every budget. As self-confessed home of gifting (and home essentials, and good indie reads, and cards…and you get the gist!) we pride ourselves on our ability to find unusual items that catch your eye, and prove to be as useful and practical as gorgeous!
We have a stunning new range of dinner plates, bowls, mugs and coasters from the brand Curateology. All the ceramics are 100% high quality stoneware (100% toxin free) and manufactured by small independent family-run ceramics specialists in Thailand. We have two colour ways in stock - a cobalt and a pale cream - which use a unique, reactive salt glaze (we think of them as reminiscent to the beach, with the sea and the sand!). Perfect for those with a more coastal aesthetic, or as simple yet beautiful pieces to enjoy daily. All of Curateology’s pieces are dishwasher, microwaveable and oven safe, which means that you can enjoy these lovely ceramics without having to worry about them withstanding the trials of the everyday.
Tinkalink are the perfect addition to any table this time of year, especially for outdoor hosting. These are a beautiful and safe alternative - no burnt tablecloths or fingers - to traditional taper candles. Tinkalink’s dinner candles are battery operated and wrapped in unique patterned fabric, and look both realistic and unusual. You may be sceptical - how can candles without a proper flame actually look good? - but we can assure you, these candles are so stunning that you forget that they aren’t real. Their ‘flame’ is the best example of a fake candle flame that we’ve seen, and they’ve been so popular so far! They are £33 without batteries provided (or £35 with batteries) for a set of two. We have plenty of designs in store, from checkerboard, florals, metallic gold, toile and more! Whilst they won’t perhaps convert those who love a true flame, they are undoubtably such a safe option (especially around children!) or even for outdoor hosting, as there is no need to worry about dripping wax, burn holes, or being extinguished on a more windy day.
For those of you who want the proper taper candles, we have lots of new-released colours available in the shop. All made from Stearin Wax (a vegetable derived wax, with no animal products used) so they are wholly paraffin free. British Colour Standard also produce all their candles ensuring that they are eco friendly and fair trade, using ecological colour dyes and organic cotton wicks. Each candle has an eight hour burn time, and are drip free! New colours include berry pinks, chartreuse greens, butterscotch browns and more - so something for everyone whether you prefer warm neutrals, bold and bright, or cool tones. Each candle is £3, so you can mix and match by shade or colour block to your heart’s delight.
Of course, we couldn’t talk tables without including our range of Faro tablecloths and napkins. We have a few tablecloths left, in medium (170cm x 270cm, around a 6 seater) and large (180cm x 360cm, roughly an 8-12 seater). Each is hand block printed cotton from India, and add effortless style to any table (indoor or outdoor!). We also stock their cotton napkins in packs of four, both striped and patterned, in a range of colours. Either go brave and eclectic with a mismatched vibe, or choose complimentary colours to your table cloth. Equally, they make the most wonderful housewarming present for those you love.
If you are after napkins, but prefer paper ones, then look no further! We have plenty of designs of paper napkins to choose from - fruit, floral, sea themed - and they are made with the FSC mark (supporting responsible forestry). Each packet is £4.50 and contains 20 units, so perfect for larger gatherings or dishing out cake slices to people.
Gurgly Jugs make the perfect gift for housewarmings but also are the most unusual vases, utensil holders, carafes, and more! We have a range of colours (though at the moment mostly greens and blues). They make the classic ‘hiccup’ gurgle sound, which makes a brilliant conversation starter! Handcrafted by traditional means and methods of manufacture, they are made from earthenware and are designed to withstand daily life. Each one is finished with a high gloss glaze, a modern addition to the design, which is based off of those available in the 1870s! So bring a little bit of history (with a 21st Century twist!) to your table with one of our fabulous Gurgly jugs.
Our range of enamel trays are also wonderful for hosting or as centrepieces on a table. Made from iron with an enamel coating, both our oval and round platters feature a moulded design and come in a range of beautiful colours. Perfect for canapés, a fancy cheeseboard, or with candles and a vase of flowers. They are super easy to clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth and dry! We also have a few of their smaller trays, which can easily stack to add dimension or be useful for added items (such as dips, crisps, or bread!).
So if you’re thinking about a new tablescape for the coming summer, if you’re planning a dinner party, or someone you love is moving property, we have plenty of essentials that are the perfect gifts (for yourself as much as others!). Simply pop in and have a browse, and the Team is always on hand to help. We love interiors and design - and of course we love shopping - so we are happy to help with colour queries, patterned problems and curating themes for you (vicariously living our design dreams here!).
