They’re finally here!

Our tide charts have rather the cult following. Perfect for gifts (perhaps the C-bomb coming in a few months!) or for yourself, our Jersey tide charts are something a little different, whilst being incredibly functional.

Having a tide chart takes away the google-searching, Evening Post checking, guessing game, staring-at-the-moon-calculation, of where the tides are. Simply have a look at the very pretty (if we do say so ourselves) chart, hung in a place that suits you, and you’ll have high tide, low tide, neap tide, tide heights, moon phases and practically everything you could ever ask for on one poster.

Jersey is shaped by the tides and the sea. After all, there is no escaping it when you live on an island of Jersey’s size. There is the vast array of sea-based sports just on our doorstep, whether that be swimming – from cold water, year round, boots and wetsuit, to simply having a splash around in the summer – to surfing, sailing or fishing, which are part of so many people’s lives. Perhaps you just like a long dog walk along the bays, or indulge in a little low-water fishing and foraging. Coastal life is synonymous with Jersey. And not to forget the volatility of our sea too, especially with the gigantic tidal ranges. Going down to the beach is not like many other places, where you can simply rock up on a whim and the sea is practically in the same place… all the time. Take the East coast, a perfect example of quite how vastly our coast changes, with rockiness for miles at low tide, which all disappears very, very quickly with the rising tide.

A tide chart is more than just a thoughtful and unusual gift. It’s not only a way to (safely) enjoy yourself whilst being informed of the tides, or allow beach visits with family run smoothly (no disappointments or long treks to the sea), but also a way to plan your day around a morning swim, or a chance to see when the best day is to get fantastic pictures seas spray from the highest tides. Equally as lovely to keep for yourselves as they are to give, our tide charts are a firmly adored staple at the shop.

At £19.50, they are a lovely gift under £20 – especially if you know the recipient already has a hanger! We do also sell lovely oak hangers at £17.00 that fit perfectly too.  In the classic blue, and the new for this year green-grey, they reflect the timeless nautical maps of old whilst remaining clear to read and interpret.

Whilst we have received lots – don’t wait! Our tide charts are a bestseller and often fly out as quick as they come in. If you would like one put aside, don’t hesitate to let the team know (either by email or phone) to ensure you don’t miss out.
