Hibernation season: A cosy selection…

So…autumn is finally upon us. The season of quilts on the bed, fluffy jumpers, hot casseroles, and reading good books in front of a roaring fire. It’s crispy crunching leaves underfoot weather, welly boots in puddles, and embracing woollen socks all day (and all night!). It’s enough to make you want to channel your inner squirrel and burrow into hibernation! Luckily, the shop is filled with the perfect, cosy loungewear to help you feel all wrapped up (yet still put-together and functional, of course).

We are often asked for pyjama sets, to which we have never really stocked any (besides some pyjama bottoms a little while ago), as nothing has ever quite been right. Until now! We have some beautifully bold cotton pyjama sets in the shop currently in a range of sizes. Currently in two colourways - a muted blush and matcha green stripe with a peter pan collar; and a blue, olive, and white floral with navy ruffles – our pyjamas are almost too good to wear at home! (And we have had debates about wearing them out, and the consensus is that they are very similar to those trendy matching sets!).

Perfect for breakfast in bed on a stormy Sunday morning, lounging in front of TV, or of course as their intended use as pyjamas. We adore them and if you, our customers, do too then there may be many more colour and pattern ways in the future (gorgeous tartan and deep burgundy already on the way!). Sets include a top, pair of trousers, and matching scrunchie so you can feel entirely put together whilst relaxing. Sizes range from small to extra-large, however from our testing and trying (read: giving into temptation and buying a set ourselves) they do run on the smaller side, so for comfort we would suggest sizing up.

We feel we are somewhat known for our dressing gowns and kimonos by now! Keeping comfy, but feeling your best, is something that has been part of Harriet and Rose from the very beginning. Lockdown - where loungewear very much became everyday wear - was when Harriet realised the importance of chic but comfy clothes to relax in, and therefore the hunt for beautifully patterned, well-made, and effortlessly waft-able dressing gowns began.

Faro, one brand of dressing gown we stock, has been part of Harriet and Rose since the very beginning. A brand that focuses upon sustainability, Faro is the wonderful business of two sisters, one in the UK and the other in India, ensuring the process and quality is just how they would like. We have some of their lovely dressing gowns with matching pouches in store (£70), as well as their quilted dressing gowns (£125) for that extra warmth.

These are ideal for this time of year, heading towards winter, with an added extra cosy-ness that you can bundle yourself up in. In the shop currently we have a jade and white floral, as well as a blue and olive floral on cream, depending on whether you learn more towards brights or neutrals. We stock these in two sizes: small-medium, and large.

We also stock block printed cotton kimonos too - which are equally as lovely (they just come without a pouch). Colours include mustards, pale pinks, turquoise, and navy blue, with the classic block printed florals, as well as roses and safari scenes! They have a contrasting trim too, for something a little different. As with all of our cotton items, we recommend a cold wash of 30 degrees and washing with like colours, or alone, just in case of colour bleeding as the colours are so bright!

And of course, there’s no neglecting our feet, which often are the first things to notice the cold at night! Our alpaca socks come in two sizes, a standard size of Uk4-7, and then a larger size that is recommended up to a UK11. We have them in forest green, pumpkin, dusty rose, oatmeal, cream, grey and blueberry – so something for everyone! With their sweat wicking, antimicrobial properties they also are brilliant for so more than just keeping your feet warm this time of year! We have our short socks, which come halfway up your calves, or longer knee length socks, as well as hiking socks (which have extra padding on the heels and toes).

Here in the shop, cosy is a lifestyle! And we are constantly innovating to bring you the very best in store and online to keep you warm and entertained this autumn, whether that be cosy clothing such as our dressing gowns and alpaca socks, tableware, candles or other never-knew-you-needed before essentials.
