December is here, and with it comes the daunting and utterly mammoth task of preparation for Christmas. The wonderful-ness of this time of year – the food, the cheer, the nice gifts (obvs) – does seem to come only after the sheer terror of braving the Highstreet for shopping, fending off the masses in M&S, and the argument of where in particular a certain bauble goes on the tree.

So, we’ve decided to make things a little easier for you. We can’t change the epic adventure-mission for food shopping (unfortunately) nor the argument for tree aesthetics…but we can do gifts! Shopping for loved ones this time of year doesn’t have to leave you wanting a long lie down in a dark room. Or needing a stiff drink (although ‘tis the season for mulled things…).

To help you out, the Team have selected some of our favourite gifts for every person – the trend appreciator, the reading enthusiast, the whodunnit lover, the self-care queen – to make your shopping experience a little less stressful. Take inspiration (or gospel) and let us be your Christmas elves! Whether large, medium, or stocking filler sized, there is something on the list for very person, budget and taste!

1. Balaclavas

Our fabulous OST balaclavas were a first pick – perfect for the fashionista but also incredibly functional for the cold weather. Whether it be dog walking, a coffee date, or just another warm layer, our balaclavas are ideal. Made from a blend of cashmere, wool, and acrylic, they are super soft (and indulgent!) whilst not breaking the bank at £29. They also have a drawstring so you can adjust how open you’d like them to be. Colours include pastels such as blush pink, soft green, and dusty blue, as well as the staple colours of autumn this year: chocolate brown, deep burgundy, and khaki green (a non-exhaustive list of the many colour ways we have in stock!).

2. Poetry pills

We have stocked Poetry Pharmacy books for a while now, which consist of sweet anthologies of carefully curated poetry for every occasion. After Deb and Harriet met by chance in the shop, we are now stocking their gorgeous pill bottle poems! Poetry excerpts are rolled into pills in small glass pill bottles, making an easy and accessible gift for word lovers, as well as a touching and thoughtfully unexpected gift. The poetry pill bottles come in prescription style packaging – which makes them more interactive, unusual (and endlessly cute) – and there is something for each and every person, from sea fever for lovers of the ocean, poetry for mothers, boosting confidence or even specifically for the festive period! Ranging from £9.95 to £13.95, they are the perfect stocking filler or even Secret Santa gift!

3. Spacemasks

Spacemasks need no introduction for those of you who visit the shop regularly. Heat up eye masks that are perfect for relaxation whether it be for sleep, travel or when you’re feeling under the weather, spacemasks are the ultimate self-care gift. In three different scents - jasmine, chamomile, and grapefruit – they cater for all tastes! We sell boxes of five for £17.50, or mix and match with the singles (£3.50 each!).

4. Notebooks

We always have lots of notebooks in stock (one can never had too many notebooks!) but our new range featuring eye catching and unusual covers are perfect stocking fillers. With dainty florals, rich red mushrooms, or sharks (and many more!) these lovely notebooks would be a great addition for those who like to have a nice notebook for notetaking, students, or those who want to romanticise the everyday mundane tasks like shopping and to do lists!

5. Hot chocolate

Nothing says ‘cosy’ in the realms of food and drink this time of year, more than a rich and decadent hot chocolate (with all the sweet trimmings too, of course!). Harth hot chocolate is a Swiss style hot chocolate, and comes in flavours such as smoky chilli, cinnamon, ginger and a spiced winter solstice blend, as well as original! Small enough for a stocking filler (and priced at £8.95,) they are little yet mighty, providing around 15 servings worth of hot chocolate – simply delicious! They are also vegan, use unalkalised natural cocoa and have plastic free packaging, which is perfect for friends and family who are more sustainably conscious.

6. Cotton Pyjamas

Our cotton pyjamas come in six colours, ranging from stripes to frills to checkboard and tartan! We stock sizes from small to extra-large in the patterns (we only keep one of each pattern out, so if you want a size that is not on display, just ask a member of the team). Super lightweight and easy to wear, our pyjamas are perfect for lounging as much as they are for sleeping! They are made from 100% cotton, which makes them breathable, with an adjustable drawstring waist. We have styes in both a cropped and longer length leg. At £89 these are the ultimate fancy present – for self-care, confidence and comfort!

7. Quilted dressing gowns

Faro’s quilted dressing gowns have featured in the shop for many autumns and winters. Made from block printed cotton, they leave you feeling effortlessly chic whilst keeping you warmer than having a duvet wrapped around your shoulders! Also stocked in a range of sizes, a member of the team is always happy to help if you can’t find your (or your loved ones!) size! We also have a variety of colours in, from emerald greens, bright blues, and vibrant reds, all in beautiful and classic block-printed patterns. At £125, they are the highest priced present on this list, but they have been included for a reason! A firm favourite, we are sure these won’t hang around long!

8. Escape room puzzles

A new and exciting addition to the shop this year has been the Puzzle Post range. If you love escape rooms – then look no further! Their unique games suit after Christmas lunch or dinner entertainment and is sure to bring out your inner sleuth. Perfect as a family gift, or for a different kind of gift for those who seem to have everything but love a puzzle! At £15, they are a fun and inexpensive way to enjoy time with loved ones, or even for yourself to do! We also stock their Padlock’d game too, an ingenious way of combining clues and presents! At £12.50, included is a padlock which you wrap around any gift of choice, for the recipient to use the clues to work out how to unlock! A great way to make gift giving more competitive, or for a bit of fun – for all ages!

9. The Ultimate Christmas Candle.

St Eval produces some of the most gorgeous scents inspired by nature, from their base in Cornwall. It’s easy to be taken up by fancy packaging (who doesn’t like pretty ceramics, or illustrated glass? Of which we also have plenty of lovely candles like this too) but for this list, we’ve chosen the OG, the candle that says Christmas without being overwhelming. St. Eval’s Orange and Cinnamon tin, at £14, is a perfectly small, functional and yet wonderful scent. It says Christmas…but elevated. Simple, and yet wonderful…how Christmas should be!

10. Bags of Stuff

The ultimate gift. Thoughtful, whilst remaining functional, and as a bag of “stuff” means that quite literally anything can go in it…you can’t go wrong! We have all sorts of bags of stuff in stock for every hobby – dancing, sea swimming, photography, golf – to more niche things (but equally useful) such as foraging stuff, witchy stuff and sleep stuff. At £14 they made a lovely stocking filler too, and come in both the black and cream colour ways.

This is by far a non-exhaustive list of all the possible gifts and goodies that we have in store at the moment. From beautiful and ornate glassware for the home bar aficionado, endless books for those who love to read, as well as all the little self care essentials we take for granted, there is plenty to ease the worries and horrors of shopping for those you love this time of year. There is no need to fret when it comes to Christmas shopping!
